With former President Donald Trump profitable the current election and Republicans retaining the bulk within the U.S. Home of Representatives and regaining the bulk within the U.S. Senate, Democrats are determined to move no matter gun-control measures they’ll earlier than January.

That desperation has prompted the pro-freedom group Gun House owners of America to ship an alert to its members warning them of the potential of such anti-gun shenanigans.

“The time between the November elections and the swearing in of latest members of Congress and our subsequent President is called the ‘lame-duck’ session,” GOA Senior Vice President Erich Pratt wrote within the alert, headlined, “Inform Congress To not Go Gun Management In the course of the Lame Duck Session.” “It’s throughout this era that Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer can try to ram by way of any last-minute gun management packages earlier than the door hits them on the way in which out.”

As Pratt identified within the alert, when President Barack Obama left the White Home, gun house owners needed to combat to repeal quite a few government orders imposing gun management that he signed on his means out—together with a gun ban for Social Safety beneficiaries and a lead ammunition ban. And simply final week, Senate Democrats held a gun management listening to to push extra restrictions earlier than Republicans take over in January.

This poses a hazard throughout the lame-duck session, however it needs to be alleviated in January when Republicans management each homes of Congress and the presidency.

“With a number of items of laws on the horizon—together with an authorization of the Nationwide Protection Authorization Act (NDAA) and an omnibus spending invoice—there shall be loads of alternatives for anti-gunners to try to sneak in gun management measures like ‘assault weapons’ bans or Common Registration Checks,” Pratt wrote within the alert. “Prior to now, anti-gunners have tried to cover Crimson Flag Gun Confiscation Legal guidelines and different gun management measures within the Nationwide Protection Authorization Act. However GOA uncovered it—and due to advocacy from our members such as you, we defeated it.”

Efforts are being made to maneuver the funding debate to January. However at this level, the results of these efforts remains to be unsure.

“Speaker Mike Johnson—who helped GOA power Joe Biden to signal the veterans gun ban repeal and a historic ATF price range lower—is preventing to push the funding debate out of the lame duck and into the following Congress,” Pratt wrote. “Which means as a substitute of Joe Biden and the Democrats within the Senate figuring out the FY 2025 spending ranges, a Second Modification-friendly White Home, Home and Senate can write the invoice as a substitute.”

As Pratt identified, if it’s GOA allies writing the invoice, America’s lawful gun house owners have an opportunity to keep away from gun management and completely eradicate the veteran gun ban.

“We’d additionally be capable of defund the ATF, destroy the unlawful gun registry and extra!” Pratt wrote. “It received’t be simple to stop gun management within the lame duck, however it’s attainable along with your assist.”

Ultimately, GOA requested members to ship a letter to their Consultant and Senators telling them to oppose all gun management measures throughout the lame-duck session.

“When legislators get an earful from their constituents again dwelling telling them to maintain their arms off our Second Modification rights, they fall in line,” Pratt concluded. “And after the Silent Majority made our voices heard within the November landslide election, the Washington Swamp is aware of that they higher take heed to the American individuals.”
