Guns and ammo hidden in punching bag leads to extradition and prison for Jamaican smuggler

Extradited Jamaican nationwide Shem Wayne Alexander faces as much as 5 years in jail for smuggling firearms and ammunition hidden in two punching luggage from Florida to Trinidad and Tobago.

Marked “home goods,” he and his co-conspirators stuffed the baggage with a number of firearms, a haul of ammunition and weapons equipment, together with:

• 11 9mm pistols
• 2 .38 caliber particular revolvers
• A 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun
• 32 AR-15 magazines
• 470 rounds of AR-15 ammunition
• 34 9mm magazines
• 284 9mm rounds
• 15 .38 caliber rounds

This case was investigated by Homeland Safety Investigations, the ATF, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, USCIS, the Florida Division of Regulation Enforcement, and CBP.
