Tri-State NAACP Moves to Dismiss Voter Roll Purging Case in Nevada

The NAACP Tri-State Convention of Idaho-Nevada-Utah final Friday moved to dismiss a lawsuit concentrating on the illegal removing of hundreds of lawfully registered residents from the voter rolls in Nevada.

The Tri-State NAACP, represented by Free Speech For Individuals, Mayer Brown LLP, and native counsel Woodburn and Wedge, not too long ago gained the best to intervene as a defendant within the lawsuit, which was filed by the Trump marketing campaign and Republican events simply weeks earlier than the November 2024 common election. Plaintiffs weaponize broadly discredited and flawed information about alleged noncitizen voting to justify its bid to purge the official voter rolls of hundreds of reliable voters.

In its movement to dismiss, the Tri-State NAACP argues:

Certainly, voter roll upkeep packages of the sort requested by Plaintiffs have been deemed unreliable for inaccurately flagging and eradicating eligible voters. Plaintiffs’ quotation to the failed efforts by different states, coupled with their obvious lack of cautious consideration for a way the Secretary would impact his duties, belie their true intent. This isn’t a case about voter roll hygiene; it’s about abusing the voter roll upkeep course of to disenfranchise probably hundreds of eligible voters.

The Tri-State NAACP’s movement to dismiss follows two different dismissal motions filed by defendants Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar, the Democratic Nationwide Committee, and the Nevada Democratic Celebration. A listening to on the motions is about for March 5, 2025.
